I’ve been aching for a well-deserved holiday for a while now. And finally got deserved it – thanks boo!
South of France was our choice destination. Our sojourn was split between Nice and Monte-Carlo, Monaco. Nice looks like movie set and Monaco is just…heaven. The scenery is everything. I’m hurting and still not over the fact that I’m back in good ol’ Birmingham but it’ll do for now. One thing I have to mention before I go on to uploading the vacay pics – it is burning hot. I’m a stern believer in black don’t crack, black don’t sunburn, all that stuff. But like hell we do! Five days of hard core sunshine and sea breeze and I’m tan as a loafer. Loving it!

We arrived pretty early on the first day so I hit the streets as soon as I’d put away my luggage. I was wearing my Asos split fiercley split skirt previously worn here and my ever present red Zara shoulder bag. 
And also in totally out of sync news: OMG the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton just had a baby boy! #congratulations. ( I typed this last night when it was still breaking news…).

A sequel to my previous post.

Day 2: 

After a hefty French breakfast out on the town, I made no hesitation to hit the famous Nice beach. The seas were warm and blue, just the way I like it.

I practically spent all day at the beach on Day 2. But the next day I was ready for some Monte-Carlo sightseeing!

Monte-Carlo is the capital of Monaco which is small country just out of France. It’s mainly populated by yacht-owning business gurus and beautiful rides

We went on a short boat tour…:)

I am usually afraid of the water because I don’t even know how to swim but by Day 3 I had gathered enough gusto to go on a boating parachute with Matt who claimed he wasn’t scared at all…

The ride was such an adrenaline rush! Especially as we went really far out and THEN got dipped into the Mediterranean. Oh lawd.

We stayed for a nice and refreshing dip after the thrilling ride.

Later that evening, Matt and I went for a nice walk around the Vieux Nice. The many shops and people give it a lot of character.

One thing I’ve learned from this trip? Pack less next time. I had a suitcase full of potential ‘dressed-to-kill’ outfits and shoes and never even wore them! It was just too blistering hot to bother wearing heels etc and I just ended up wearing my poor ole faithful flats EVERY SINGLE time. 

My hair was another story. Excuse it’s flatness/frizziness. There’s only so much blow-drying/straightening a girl can do when you’re in the water 24/7

The only time I dressed up was on the last day when we went out for a meal. I haven’t uploaded pictures of that day yet . I will upload a full post on the outfit details in my Outfit Diaries but here’s a sneak pic of the outfit.

Whew! Finally there you have it. Most of the pictures from my short stay in Nice. I’d definitely go back there in a heartbeat.

The finals of the Miss Cameroon Officiel competition went down last night  and stunning model Valerie Ayena was crowned the worthy winner.  She chatted with a source after  her win and here’s what she said:

“I know my potential and I know that if Cameroonian people would like to see their country shining overseas they should choose me. For the rest I give it to papa God.” -

Miss Valerie is a bilingual fashion model and has been an international catwalk model for quite a few years.

Well, congratulations to Miss Valerie and can’t wait for her to represent Cameroon in the upcoming Miss World competition.

Bajan princess, Riri just released a firts glimpse into her 3rd collaboration with British high street retailer River Island. The collection boasts camo accents, cropped tops and sexy footwear. 

Who better to promote the Rihanna for River Island collection than Rihanna herself?

Riri was spied with a new ‘do once again (thank God, those curls brought some Eazy-E realness that was not funny), wearing  a camouflage crop top £25 with ‘G4Life’ in black on the back, with dark-denim rolled-up jeans £50 with her ‘R’ logo etched above the pocket. She matched this ensemble with a pair of £60 sexy barely-there ankle strap sandals in camo print from her range, a gold quilted vintage Chanel cap and a Givenchy Madonna clutch.

What do you think of this ensemble?

Hey divas and gents! It’s Monday again. Time to drop those bottles and glasses and pick up your pens and agendas. What’s on your schedule this week? Oh, I’ve got loads on mine. There’s work stuff, blog duty, not to talk of the many functions I’ve got coming up. Oh and did I mention moving house? My list is usually ongoing but let’s not let that get in the way.

Yesterday, I decided to don a casual ‘fit for an evening meal out with the sugar in my brew. I’ve done the ultimate double denim dare before in one of my OOTD before.  Only this time I ditched the heels for a comfy pair of suede flats and flounced up my transitioning hair with an African print hair band. Also these are Zara washed blue jeans with zips on the side and not distressed like the previous pair.

Yesterday felt like a cool and perfect day to just be laid back and enjoy a good walk in the sun. I accessorized with my favourite go-to pink flats and an ankara print headband.

Am in the middle of a transition which makes my hair a challenge to manage. I haven’t had a flat iron to it in a while now and that is the best decision ever.Loving my wash ‘n go routine. So liberating. Don’t have to worry about flat hair days anymore. The only thing I need right now moisture and softness, Can someone please give me ideas on how to retain that? As much as I loving these bendy rollers-achieved curls, I’ll have to put submit my ‘fro to some protective stylin’ sooner or later given the impending autumn season. I am no make up guru but with the help of amazing makeup tutorials by some of my favourite MUA I managed to dab on some Mac Rebel lipstick which is my new favourite.

I was reading this article yesterday on Bella Naija about Toke Makinwa and her beau Maje Ayida and the PDA in Lagos. The article mentioned the pair have been dating for 11 years. What I found even more intriguing were the comments that ensued:

‘Dating for 11years????????? Key holder things, she wants him by all means for her to hangon, Maje please wife her now, you have been getting free milk for 11years, dont you want the cow?…[sic]‘

‘Walahi she tried. Dating a guy for 11year? That’s equivalent as getting married now! And still now, no child(ren), cos the guy would hv stopped using condom now. Not even an engagement ring on that finger? She tried oo. So the guy has been enjoying free food for the past 11yrs??? Like seriously? It still baffles me though. No hard feelings trust me but omotoke, u tried..[sic]‘

‘Maje please wife that babe, she has tried…’

How could they have dating for 11 years? Will he ever marry her? Has she not been dropping any hints or what? 

My question is, when does dating become too long? After 7 years, 9 years, 15 years?

What is the average time for two people to be together in a relationship before they  the guy decides to take things further.  Some people in similar situations have become experts at the art of hint-dropping and begged their boyfriends to tie the knot to no avail.

But then again, I’ve seen genuinely happy couples who just don’t believe in matrimony. It’s all a farce to them. For some people, marriage and and all the legal nonentities that come with it ruin and jinx an already happy and joyous union. 

What most girls dread in such situations is a guy who will walk away after 13 years worth of memories, trust, planning, overcoming, laughter, tears, nicknames, arguments…(insert applicable experience) and marry another girl he’s only been with for a year or so. #thunderfire! 

This is defintely not true for everyone. Quite a lot of guys who date a girl for a very long period do not have plans of taking off. It could be one of many things stopping him from taking things to the next level. Financial reasons, marriage phobia (this fear is real y’all), midlife crisis etc.  But if your man starts looking like this

every time you mention a possible future together, then by all means, do a Usain Bolt.

If 15 years is too long, when is the ideal time for a guy to make that knee drop and pop out that long-awaited diamond? 

Personally, even though I support happy (key word there is HAPPY) couples in their long-term-next-to-infinity relationships, I just prefer to see growth and evolution in any union I get involved in. Even if we are not getting hitched anytime soon, we should at least have future ‘settling’ plans in the works. 

Which umbrella do you fall under? Do you think you can be with someone for as long as a decade without a legally binding contract keeping you together?

Come to think of it, for some people it only takes them a few months to get to know each other, fall head over heels in love with them and next thing you know, they’re tying the knot. Some of our great grand parents dated their partners for decades before tying the knot; some of them never even tie the knot yet they live together till death does them apart. So all this fuss about numbers and wasted years, are girls just being paranoid? Does it really matter if, or more importantly WHEN he puts a ring on it?

Please tell me oh. Let me know when to start giving my man the side-eye…

Hiya precious ABYers! What have you been up to? How about we add some extra spice to your afternoon with this scintillating Style Diary from the one and only Skinny Bish, Miss Brenda Chuinkam. If like me, you’ve been following Brenda via her social media updates, then you would know she’s a top fashion force to be reckoned with. ABY: Who is Brenda?

My name is Brenda and I was born in Gabon but partly raised in New York and a Cameroonian citizen who currently resides in Toronto. I am a Technical Advisor for Sony Canada who loves dressing up and going for events.

 

ABY: How would you describe your style?

I would say my style is more or less curves and colours meet print. I love bright colours and lots of print-especially Ankara. I have just started into getting into the habit of wearing thrifted/vintage pieces with modern trends and I’m loving it so far – my wallet is loving it as well,lol. I generally do not wear items above $60 because I know my limit but I do make occasional exceptions mostly for bags and ballroom/birthday/big event dresses. I love my dresses!

ABY: which designers speak to you the most?

Hands down “Andrea Iyamah” speaks to me the most! Haha. I have been a fan since Day 1 and I’m so proud to know the designer personally and see how far she’s come. She knows that I must own a piece from every single one of her collections and was even kind enough to send some pieces as a gift! Another designer whose stuff I love is Design of a Diaspora- modern day Ankara outfits at affordable prices. There is also of course Zeena Kay. 

In terms of widespread designers-I love (but cannot yet afford) Rachel Zoe, DKNY, Chanel, Ellie Saab, Duaba Serwa, Herve Leger, Balmain and Vera Wang.

ABY: Spill on your beauty secrets. Top 5.

My Top 5 beauty secrets would probably be:

 a) Drink lots of water and randomly suck in your stomach in-between workouts; it creates more resistance.

b) Do lots of squats-it really defines your bum.

c) Never go to bed with make up on. Especially if you have oily skin.

d) Watch something funny everyday – it keeps a smile on your face and makes you more approachable.

e) Use Mary Kay cleanser and moisturizer-haha ok it doesn’t have to be Mary Kay but find what works for you and use regularly.

 ABY: Your favourite makeup brands would be…

I used to be obsessed with Mac- I still am slightly but I run away from their foundation because it always makes e break out. I use Mary Kay when it comes to foundation and then Mac brow pencil, lipstick, liner etc.I use a lot of drugstore make up as well such as Revlon eye pencil and L’oreal mascara and of course my Quo lashes! I am no make up guru, my make up routine for work is very simple-eye liner and brow liner. that’s it. When I go for events, then I like to slap on some lashes and lipstick and foundation etc.

ABY: What fragrance are you obsessed with at the moment? 

 I am not a huge fragrance person so most of the times if I’m wearing a fragrance, I stole it from my mom. She has all the classics- Channel No.5, Dior Hypnotic Poison, Princess by Vera Wang and Opium by Yves St Laurent. I also like Heat by Beyonce, Chloe by Marc Jacobs, Obsessed by Calvin Klein and Fantasy by Britney Spears. I barely spray them on unfortunately, partly because there is a “No fragrance” policy at work!

ABY: Sad face to the ‘no fragrance’ policy:( Well, if you could trade places with anyone who would it be and why?

7) If I could trade places with anyone for a week it would have to be Chloe Green, the daughter of multi billionaire and owner of Topshop, Phillip Green. I wouldn’t want to be a celebrity because everyone would be in my face. I would just take $1billion of her money and then come back to my life and lead a relatively normal life while getting anything I wanted, and helping my family and friends, haha!

ABY: Haha, great strategy there! What’s your favourite music track now?

Right now I’m loving Mirrors by Justin Timberlake, Liquor store blues by Bruno Mars, Blurred Lines by Robin Thicke, Antenna by Fuse, Shake by Flavour (I listen to it everyday on my way to work), Appelles-moi Princesse by Grace Decca, Next to me by Emeli Sande and Fu-gee-la by The Fugees.

ABY: Wow, quite the playlist. (opens new YouTube tab…). what’s your favourite trend now?

  I’m loving the Monochrome, all-white and print mixing trends- I feel like they’re timeless and can work for anyone if done right.

ABY: Your ultimate fashion no-nos…

My fashion no-nos are few because let’s face it, if you don’t take risks you never know what may become. You will however never see me wearing leggings, a crop top and ugg boots or see-through tights and a sweater…another no-no of mine: a cute mini dress with boots that cut off my ankles because my legs are too short and thick for that.

ABY: If your life was a movie what would be its title and who would play you?

Haha, if my life were a movie it would be called “Seeking My Ultimate Purpose” and I’m not sure who would play me…maybe an unknown actress …or maybe Anika Noni Rose!

ABY: Top 5 wardrobe must-haves are…

Top 5 wardrobe must haves:Fitted blazer, black pumps, brightly-colored dress, Classic tote and Little black dress.

ABY: If your house were to go up in flames what items would you save from your closet?

I would try to save all my dresses if my house went up in flames AND I wasn’t just standing there hopeless and crying (which is what I think I would do instead). I I had to pick just ONE item though, it would be my Zara hand bag because it has all my IDs, credit/debit cards and important info all at once…

ABY: Who are your fashion icons?

My all-time fashion icons are mostly fellow bloggers like KT Reed, Cynthia of Addicted to Etsy, but then there are others like Audrey Hepburn, Solange Knowles, Currey Mulligan, Tulisa and most of the young women who have been featured on Black Girls Killing it! Haha!

 ABY: Ha! i stalk BGKI too! What’s your favourite quote? 

I have so many favourite quotes (which I share almost daily on my Twitter page) but 1 of my ultimate favorites is:

Throwback Thursdays has become quite the trend since the take of Instagram. So I thought, I might as well make it a regular feature on ABY. i do love these throwback pictures. And isn’t it funny that a snapshot which was D.O.P.E only a few years ago just makes you keel over with laughter today? We all have tonnes of Throwback Thursday-worthy pictures. Happy Friday loves! Who’s looking forward to the long weekend? yep, it’s a bank holiday kinda weekend. Whoop, whoop! We’re ending this week with yet another Instagram inspired trend: Selfies. A selfie is a picture of yourself taken by yourself. They have been every girl’s obsession in the past few months or so. Raise your hands of you haven’t seen people on the bus, train, streets, office, public toilets with phones held out on stretched out arms and pouted lips posing for that all important selfie. No hands…? i thought as much.

Love & basketball star Sanaa Lathan served one of my favourite selfies this week  with vivacious violet lips. Her hair and makeup are beat to high heaven. Yasss!

Adrienne Bailon stays slaying. She said this was one of her more ladylike looks and I agree. She gave us a close-up of her maquillage: smoky eyes meets nude lips meets honey wavy bob meets a pout – you can never go wrong with that combo.

I like to treat my ABY readers and what better time for a well-deserved treat than on a Friday?! After a long and gruelling week of hard work, late nights and early mornings here’s something to make you smile. On Camer Spotlight this week is edgy Cameroonian model Miss Geli Forlefac. I shot a few quirky questions at the Grace-Jones-type-fierce model and here are the fun replies she had for me:

ABY: Let’s get the basic introductions in. Who’s Geli?  Well, first off, my family is straight from Cameroon. I was born in the States with the rest of my siblings and I guess that’s what they call first generation. I grew up in Maryland right outside of D.C around Silver Spring and Bethesda. I went to Bethesda Chevy Chase High school. I’m currently not enrolled in University.

ABY: What are some of your main interests and hobbies? My hobbies would include dancing, reading poetry, arts and crafts and especially people watching. It sounds creepy but I’m not a stalker or anything. I’ve just always been interested in peoples lives and what they do and who they are. I sort of kind of make up stories about people I see. I just think people are extremely interesting: how they dress, their mannerisms and what they do.

ABY: OMG you’re Huck from Scandal…! Lol. First off tell us how you were “discovered” and how your modelling career all started? I wasn’t discovered at all. I packed up my things and kind of ran off to NYC. I didn’t tell my parents my plan and didn’t know a single soul in NYC or much about modelling then. I just knew NYC was the place to be. So I moved on my own and it has definitely been an interesting couple of years.

ABY: Such guts! And it’s paid off for you. Do you have any hidden talents? Umm…I’m not really sure, you would have to ask my friends. I think I’m a pretty boring person.

ABY: Girl are you sure? Ok. What has been your favourite shoot or picture till date? My favourite shoot would be shooting for FashizBlack Magazine when they first started. The stylist ( Joy Adaeze ) and photographer ( MG Oania) were phenomenal to work with and FashizBlack has been growing into an awesome magazine so I’m definitely happy I got to be a part of that. My favourite photo is one a friend of mine at the time took. He is also a photographer. but its not a picture I keep in my portfolio. Its just a candid moment of me smiling that I’ve always really loved.

ABY: Are you currently working on any projects? What should we expect? I am, but I don’t wanna jinx it! It involves my hobbies, that’s my hint.

ABY: oooh, a bit of suspense. I can’t wait! Give us 3 facts about you people may not know…

1. I’m a twin

2. I played the Cello for about 8 years

3. I’m the best at giving advice and fixing problems

ABY: Wow, a twin! I never would’ve guessed. If you weren’t modelling what would you see yourself doing? I have absolutely no idea. I ask myself this all the time! Ha, I guess I’m still working on that one.

ABY: You have a great look and an amazing body! Pray tell, how do you stay fit? -I honestly wouldn’t have this body if it weren’t for my trainer Kali O’Mard. I love him, he’s the best. He taught me how to eat right and everything I need to know about my body to stay at my targeted weight the healthy way. With modelling its like you’re never skinny enough.

ABY: Who is your favourite A. Cameroonian model B. international model? There really aren’t many Cameroonian models out there so the options are limited but I definitely like Naoumie Ekiko. She’s great! There are too many amazing models out there but I have to say I’ve always been the biggest fan of Daria Werbowy and Liya Kebede.

ABY: Top picks. I’m a fan of Naoumie and Liya myself. How would you define your personal style? I’m lazy when it comes to style,I want to be comfortable. I don’t think I have “style” at all I just wear what I feel like, lol. If I had to describe it or define my day to day style, I would say its minimal and a bit boyish and natural. I love a good T-shirt with some stupid doodle on it and ripped jeans. I do like to get dolled up for special occasions though and will get a bit girly.

ABY: Who are some of your favourite designers? Where do you usually shop? I don’t have any store I usually shop at. I shop every and anywhere. I get my basics from H&M and ZARA of course. I like to go to the vintage shops around the city and in BK too. I always like to have items that no one else has. My favourite designer is Marc Jacobs.

ABY: What are your 5 fashion must haves? 

-Leather Jacket

-Ripped Jeans or any pair of jeans that make you look your skinniest

-Little Black Dress

-An awesome T-shirt

-Converse Sneakers

ABY: Hahaha. This could honestly go on forever. LOL! You are such an inspirational beauty to many Cameroonians. What is the most important piece of advice you can give to anyone looking to get into modelling? Its a very tough industry and you have to make sure 100% its what you want to do. Not everyone is discovered and made into a supermodel overnight so you have to work hard at it. You’ll be told you’re not skinny enough, or tall enough, and just turned down a lot. It can be hard on you so don’t take everything so personal. Most importantly I would say be realistic, do your research and believe in yourself.

So the MTV Video Music Awards went down last night…and I slept through it. But you must understand, I tried. I tried to stay up for programming but time difference is a bastard. While it was only a good ol’ Sunday in America, airtime for us here the UK was at ungodly hour:( Well, thank God for catch up TV. I hear there’s a lot of bits that made moms cringe. Like this bit-

But let’s just get into the fashion first shall we? Ciara turned it up with rapper boyfriend Future. She donned an ethereal feathery sheer Givenchy nude number. Divine. She kept her makeup and footwear in the same flesh tone hue.

Selena Gomez slayed in a Versace creation. Her dress boasts a lingerie bustier and thigh-high slit. Yasss! This is how sexy elegance is done. Katy Perry showed off leg in an Emmanuel Ungaro leopard print dress with butterfly embellishments around her decolletage. She pulled this look off well I must say. Rita Ora stole the night as she channeled Beyonce  best look of the night as she strutted the red carpet in this Alexandre Vauthier dress. The thigh-high slit feature of the dress gave us a peak at her toned legs. I love her haircut. And who else is loving her face without that signature red lip?! She looks fabulous. Best she’s looked in a while really. Go Rita:)

Taylor Swift totally, like totally, looked different in a navy bandage dress. She went for retro Hollywood glam with her hair. She looked demure.

Miley Cyrus and her tongue were at the event in full flesh. She was clad in a Dolce and Gabbana off-the-shoulder crop-top and high-waist leggings embellished with  colorful gemstones. She gave to her look with double mini-buns and Giuseppe Zanotti peeptoes. Rihanna came in through the back door in her jeans and a t-shirt. Her face looked beat as always.  She added a grill for good measure.

Jennifer Hudson looked nice in a leather hounds tooth dress and Christian Louboutin pigalle court shoes. Great and chic look overall.

Ariana Grande was cute as button in a floral dress and white heels. Adorbs!

Rocsi Diaz opted for a colourful strapless Pia Pauro dress. I love everything except that hair. Danity Kane repped in black and white outfits. Paula Patton and her honey Robin Thicke looked gorgeous together. Paula was in a spicy Lever thigh-high slit dress while hubby Robin looked polished as per usual in a suit.

Miss new booty Iggy Azalea showed of her curves in a golden Emilio Pucci dress. Work!

Supermodel Coco Rocha debuted a new short ‘do on the red carpet. She was true to her rockstar personality in a biker jacket and cigarette denims. Werk that face Coco!

The Smiths kept it playful.

Lady Gaga held her ponytail in her hands in a black Prabal Gurung dress.

As for her performance outfit, it was just another day in the life of a Gaga lady…

I’ve been having a lot fun putting together these detailed lists. You must have seen my Top 40 Black Female Fashion Bloggers, 101 Black Hair Ideas, Top 40 Asian Fashion Bloggers, Top 30 MakeUp and Beauty Bloggers, Top 30 Bold & Bald Bloggers…and so forth. These posts take ages to complete and I’ve got a whole lot different topics lined up. Today I’ll be serving my Top 70 Curvy Fashion Bloggers. Blogging might just be a trend for some, but for these curvy divas it’s a movement. They are successfully eradicating petty myths and beliefs from the society towards plus size women and fashion. I’m also hoping this post is a great inspiration for curvier girls to get different style tips. I’m not blessed with many curves. But these ladies are! They’re the best in the plus-size bloggers out there. Let’s get into these fabulous ladies who are flaunting their curves fashionably.  Once again, in no specific order.

1.Passion Jonesz

This 21 year old fierce and curvy blogger is giving me life with her style and makeup tutorials. She and her husband are currently expecting so expect creative maternity looks from her blog. How flawless is this?

2. Killer Kurves

Killer Kurves by Karyn Johnson is a plus size fashion blog and resource (based in Canada) dedicated to promoting plus size fashion worldwide. Killer Kurves aims to inspire and teach curvy women about fashion, showing them that you can be stylish at any size. Killer Kurves shares the latest plus size fashion trends and news from around the world; keeping our followers informed and fashionable! And with over 15,000 followers, Killer Kurves is the largest plus size fashion blog in Canada, making it the Canadian plus size authority!

3.Illustrious Jewelry 

Liz of Illustrious Jewelry is such a gem. She is a jewelry designer and fashion blogger who isn’t afraid of colour. I love her hair and she wears some really interesting prints. You must take me thrift shopping sometime Liz. Visit her store here.

4. Gabifresh

The fact that Gabi has been  been featured in Glamour, Teen Vogue, InStyle, The New York Times, Seventeen, Time Out New York and Cosmopolitan says tonnes about her. She’s one of the most influential plus size bloggers on the blogosphere. Her blog offers fashion advice (which mostly consists of “ignore fashion rules!!!”) and outfits that inspire others to take risks and have fun with clothing regardless of their size. Gabi says: ‘I pretty much disagree with most mainstream fashion ideas and reject the notion of “dressing for your body type.”‘

5. Naja Diamond

After 6 years in the AirForce, Naja traded in her combat boots for stilettos and took the fashion world by storm. I love her flawless executions: from makeup to manicure. She always looks very prim and elegant. Naja is a household name when it comes to fabulous curvy bloggers. 

6. Flaws of Couture

Flaws of Couture is managed by two bloggers Sasha (http://www.deliciously-fat.blogspot.com) and Garcia (http://www.atadbitmore.blogspot.com). You can reach each of them at their individual blogs. But I always prefer double the fun, that’s why I’ve used their joint blog as a headliner. These ladies curvy and are working every angle. You would not regret turning up at their blog.

7. Natural Fashionista

What I love about Kim’s blog is that her style is totally versatile. Both regular and plus size readers could learn a trick or two from her. She is werking those natural curls I must admit. Her lipstick is always spot on too. What a stunner.

8. Girl With Curves

Tanesha Awasthi is one of my favourite bloggers. She is the definition of elegance. She never fails. She’s currently rocking a teenie weenie baby bump:) You should check out her blog for maternity styles. I tapped Tanesha sometime back then to feature on Style Diary and I’m so glad she accepted. You can read her feature and get to know her better here. 

9. Crystal Chanel

Crystal is a 28 year old fatshionista and mother of one from Charlotte whose style is not defined by the label or size of her clothes but by the style in which she wears them. She believes strongly that confidence is key and is the best accessory to any outfit. I agree! Her cute face is giving me Chrisette Michele vibes.

10. Jay Miranda

Jay Miranda is a new mom, writer and blogger who inspires many with her curvy style tips. Apart from her awesome outfit posts, stylish mom chronicles and shoe collection, Jay delivers excellent and well-written pieces. You do not want to give her blog a miss. 

11. It’s My Taste

Corie felt there should be more “average” looking women, showing their true styles in the blogosphere. That’s why she started blogging. She encourages others to be more comfortable in their own bodies. By the way, there’s nothing average about Corie. Her style is casual chic, comfy and relaxed fit. I like it. 

12. Pockets and Bows

In her own words, Brittany is a 24 year old plus size fashion blogger that loves to be told “what not to wear” because she will break all of the rules! I love this bold and sexy blogger. You’ll catch her creating new fashion rules for curvy women by wearing unexpected pieces. She’s also on my Top 40 Black Female Bloggers.

13. Amarachi Ukachu

I first stumbled upon Amarachi’s blog on Instagram. I instantly thought; who is this larger than life barbie doll amazonian beauty? ! Amarachi is one stylish and glamorous lady. I especially love her very handy DIY posts. 

14. Feastful Life

Mitch is a full-figured Pinay woman who’s living life at 30. She is based in Manila, Philippines and enjoys blogging, shopping and random photo taking. Mitch offers fresh girl-next-door look and I love them.

15. My Curves and Curls

Mali-born Assa is a wife and mother of two boys and the proud face behind My Curves and Curls. She’s also the owner of another famous blog I love. It’s called Ciaafrique and focuses on the latest African Fashion designs. Assa has an affinity for big curls as you can tell already. Assa blogs about the challenges and rewards of being big and tall. Quite inspiring.

16. A Curious Fancy

A Curious Fancy is a one stop blog for curvy fashionistas with a quirky side. In her own words: I am fat, fanciful and whimsical. Well, actually I’m just plain eccentric, but it translates to whimsical in the virtual medium. I’ve read her blog. I fancy it!

17. A Thick Girls Closet

Shainna (Shay) is the ‘thick girl’ behind this blog. She’s looking to make her own mold in society. I can’t get over her dreadlocks and how stunning she looks in them!

18. Nadia Aboulhosn

Does this lady need an introduction from me? Talk about bringin’ sexy back. Nadia Aboulhosn is the epitome of the sexy, curvy fashion diva. Love, love, love her style. I’m not curvy but I get outfit inspirations from her. That says something. Check her-and those curves- out.

19. Faith Family Fashion

Melissa Ward is the face behind Faith Family Fashion. Her blog title reflects some of the things she’s passionate about. Love her casual chic and simple ensembles.

Zelie always has some interesting shade of lipstick on. I also love her fun hairstyles. Not to mention her colourful prints. She’s recently opened her online boutique for curvy sexy women called Zelie For She. Fierce designs on there!

Sam is such a doll! I just love her smile. She’s a 28 year old blogger (who looks nothing like it), wedding coordinator, positive body image ambassador and an up and coming plus size model. Her blog is very inspirational. I love her positivity and glam shoots:)

Seriously, how am I finding out about all these fabulous ladies only now?! Meet Stephanie Zwicky, a 36 year old fashion blogger, comedian and plus size model. Her blog is in French so it’s even more romantic! Lol. She’s lives for mixing high street and high fashion. If I were her size, I’d be so raiding her closet. Especially her shoes. As the name implies, I stalk this blog daily. Claire is already on my Top 40 Black Female Fashion Bloggers but I couldn’t resit including her on this list. She’s a blogger with legs to die for. Her hair and makeup is always beat! Claire chronicles everything fashion-related on her blog; from street style to runway style, to looks for less, celebrity looks. You name it, it’s on her blog. She also posts about her style and fashion week appearances under Claire’s Style. Claire is an editor and she dresses like one. Never anything amiss on this flawless lady. #teamfashionbombdaily

The Queen Sized Flava started by Sarah is a movement in Montreal to promote plus size fashion and to bring it to the attention of Quebec’s fashion industry in order to make it more accessible. The QSF movement is also extremely focused on self-esteem empowerment. Love your drive Sarah. Major crush on that hair, gosh!

71. Lola à La Mode

Lobna (Lola) is a Miami born Moroccan with curves to die for.Her style is sexy, chic and trendy. I love how she throws in classic pieces every now and then. This curvy diva knows how to dress her body and I ain’t mad at that! I love her barely there ankle strap sandals. So effortlessly chic in them.

Whew! I did it! I chronicled my Top 50 (well 70 and counting) curvy fashion bloggers. This has been such a lengthy post to research and write.  Did any of your favourites make the feature? If not, please spill!I briefly read through this amazing blog once at work. Now, I’ve completely blanked on what the blog was called. It’s so frustrating coz she’s curvy and killing it! Oh well, I’ll  update this list when I remember. Don’t you just hate when that happens?

It’s been raining intermittently for days now. So unfortunately I haven’t been able to get any pictures taken at all; (well hello autumn, we see you). Thankfully, the rains gave in for a few hours and I was able to slip in a few shots. You can still see the water on my skirt

So, Cameroonian  rapper, Stanley Enow is making waves with his catchy single ‘Hein Père’. This song is getting so much and you know what, it deserves it and more. Therefore, it isn’t a surprise that when I heard about Hein Père merchandise, I didn’t hesitate to jump on the train. I purchased the On Est High Pere female tank top in white. You can get yours too from here.

There are so many ways to wear this tank. You can always dress it up or dress it down. I dressed it up here by going for the classic white and black combo. A midi leather pencil skirt and my favourite leather jacket completed my fit. I accessorized with a pair of quite comfortable ankle strap wedge heels which I got from Office in the summer. Unfortunately they’ve sold out but River Island have got a similar pair. My biker leather jacket is from Topshop and is over a year old but it’s such a classic. 

I got my braids in only two weeks ago. They still hurt like crazy every time I try a bun so I’ve just been letting them loose. I went for a berry lip using Rouge Pur Couture Fuschia Pink by Yves Saint Laurent. I’ve fallen in love with this lipstick. I can’t get enough of it.

Our favourite celebs are not letting the downpours of rain get in their way of having a great time. A handful of noteworthy names were gathered at ELLE’s 20th Annual Women In Hollywood Celebration. Here’s the style report of who wore what.

White was the winning colour of the night for most. 

We all know Meagan Good is not your average Pastor’s wife. The sexy actress gave us a hint of  her gifted bossom in this white jumpsuit.

Her husband DeVon Franklin was on hand and looked dapper. Her hair and makeup was flawless.

Big Sean’s fiancee, Naya Rivera followed suit in an even sexier in a Pamela Rolland white jumpsuit.

Kat Graham killed it in a crop top and pleated skirt paired with Topshop heels and a statement Sarah Angold necklace.

Glee star, Lea Michele was effortless in Calvin Klein.

Revenge actress, Ashley Madekwe, worked her magic (as usual) and looked sizzling hot in a Thakoon resort dress.

Scandal actress, Katie Lowes, was also in attendance. She and her co-star and fellow gladiator Darby Stanchfield wowed in white.

Joy Bryant is a gorgeous woman but this pairing was underwhelming. Some good tailoring would have made her white on white ensemble work.

Caitlin Fitzgerald looked pretty in a white sequined shift dress.

Bond girl, Naomi Harris was in the mood for a Calvin Klein fringe dress.

Reese Witherspoon skipped the white and went red hot in a strapless Calvin Klein dress.

Busy Phillips looked radiant in a black dress.

The American Music Awards went down last night in LA. Who wore what? Let’s get into our favourite ‘fit of the evening.

White was en vogue at the American Music Awards last night. 

Miley Cyrus who just turned 21 (23 November) looked subdued and fresh-faced in a white trouser suit. Papa Billy Ray Cyrus was her plus one. Cute!

Fashion Star, Nicole Richie donned on a white cut out Emilio Pucci gown. I liked i until I saw the back of it. So risqué! She pulls it off though.

Kendall Jenner was grown and sexy in a Keepsake white strapless cut out dress. Stunner.

Kylie Jenner brought out her dark side with a full on fringe and leather ankle boots. She looks gorge.

Zendaya Coleman was a dream in a Donna Karan white ensemble and Christian Louboutin pumps.

Voice coach Christina Aguilera showcased her slim frame in a white Maria Lucia Hohan gown and Christain Louboutin sparkly heels.

Ciara looked toned in a J.Mendel gown. She’s always a hit in my book.

Zoe Saldana looked beautiful as always.

Rihanna wore her in a wrap to receive her Icon award. She’s always leading with these hair trends eh? I wonder if this one will catch on. Her skin is flawless. Her Jean Paul Gaultier ensemble fit to a tee.

Naya Rivera wore a black body keyhole gown. Sultry.

Jordin Sparks is such a beauty. She goofed around on the carpet in a spike embellished gown.

Heidi Klum repped in a lace LBD.

Jenna Ushkowitz opted for colour in a bright coral dress.

Jennifer Hudson looked amazing in a Christian Dior dress. Not her favourite look but she’s so pretty.

I was so sad when I heard this colour had been discontinued by MAC. It is super gorgeous. It’s bright enough to uplift an otherwise dark wintry ensemble without feeling too summery. What’s best, it is flexible and can be worn even in the summer when one is feeling feisty. I love MAC may not be stocking these babies but as usual, Ebay and Amazon are going forever strong. Grab one for yourself here. Hope they’re authentic though!

Mac Heroine may have been discontinued but there’s a new violet lippy in Mac town! This lipstick is simply flat out fabulous as its name suggests. Fabulous.

FEW HOURS UNTIL NEW YEARS! I’m trying to get all my ‘Best of 2013′ posts out in time. It’s crazy. Okay, these are my Top 10 songs of 2013.

1. Lorde: Royals

It’s quite rare for one of the biggest and overplayed pop songs of the year to be so clever! Especially when the singer is only 17 years old. As soon as I first heard this tune I knew it was going to be song of the year. I loved the theme of the song and the minimal production was pretty much perfect. Most of the other songs on this list will be unfairly be forgotten in about 10 years time but I cant see it happening with this classic.

2. Arctic Monkeys – Do I Wanna Know

Love the tough mean sounding vibe of this song , the riff is massive!  Alex Turner has been the best lyricist in the world for the last 6 years and the way he phases his words is totaly interesting and unique

3. Miley Cyrus – We Can’t Stop.

I love the bridge part sooooooo much, in fact it might be my favourite music section of the year and I wish it was longer or repeated more before the chorus. A millions times better than “Wrecking Ball”.

 

4. Pusha T- Numbers on the Board

This  definitely gets the award for best beat/production. When it comes on in a club the mood just completely changes and it creates this mad voodoo spooky timeless atmosphere. Also Pusha’s album “My Name Is My Name” has been on rotation this year, one of my faves!

5. Anna Kendrick – Cups (Jellosea Remix)

And this gets the award for best remix of the year! The original was nice and catchy but Jellosea completely transform it into a really beautiful emotional piece of music that’s a million miles away from the original. It makes me wanna cry.

 

6. The Strokes – Tap Out

Contains two of my favourite melodies of 2013 but I can’t work out if I prefer the verse or the chorus? Beautiful falsetto vocals float over a bad ass groove and as always with The Strokes a kick ass guitar solo! There isn’t enough guitar solos in music these days.

 

7. Beyoncé - Grown Woman

Not the catchiest Beyonce single but it doest matter because the beat rocks!  African rythyms are the best thing ever and have been en vogue at the moment in the electronic music world and thanks to Beyonce theyare starting to make an impact in pop land. About time!!! The bass is very cool and anything with xlophones gets me excited. Iv only seen 30 seconds of the video but its enough to tell me its probably video of the year.

8. Ten Walls – Gotham

Definitely the most important  underground electronic record of the summer , every single DJ in Ibiza seemed to be including it in their sets. Similar to the Pusha T record, it just has this really simple spooky atmosphere about it which makes peoples ears prick up and then dance like they are in some weird forest in Brazil circa 1852 or maybe 2056??? Ha ha something like that but when you hear this destroy a club you will understand.

 

9. Haim- Falling

The Haim album “Days are Gone” is probably my favourite record of the year , every song is so strong it was hard to pick a favourite but this alongside Forever are probably the best. These girl rockers have that cool “retro sound from the future” vibe  and I’m a sucker for those Fleetwood Mac-esque harmonies.

 

10. AlunaGeorge – Attracting Flies

I love the 80′s and this has got a massive 80′s keyboard riff coupled with that classic 90′s female vocal. Very catchy but not in that annoying I’ll-be-sick-of-it-by-tomorrow kind of way and I love the little subtle synth rumble in the chorus.
